A burnt wick is one of the most common – and irritating – problems that many vapers experience on a regular basis. There is a very specific and unpleasant flavor that a person’s vape juice will take on once their coil has burnt, and for many people, this ruins the experience of vaporizing.
One thing that’s important to note is that your coils will burn out after a while. Nothing lasts forever, right? Unfortunately, most people’s coils burn out a lot faster than is necessary because they are not aware of the proper techniques for preventing an early burn-out.
In this article, we’re going to discuss some of the easiest ways to prevent your coil from burning.
1. Prime Your Coil
The first thing that you should do when you get a new vape or coil is to prime it. When you get a new coil its totally dry, however, you want it to be totally soaked before beginning to use it. Neglecting to do this can lead to a premature burn out.
Doing this is simple – add a few drops of your e-liquid into the center hole of your coil and let it sit there for a few minutes before heating it up. This should soak through and lead to a much more pleasant vaping experience.
If this sounds more difficult, you can simply pull on your vaporizer without pushing the power button. This will draw fluid into the coil and if you let it soak in for about 20 minutes, you’ll be fine.
2. Keep Your Tank Full
It’s important not to let your vape tank get too empty. Once the level falls below the holes in your coils, you’re at risk of burning it out. For most people, this means that they have to keep their vape tank at least 50% full.
3. Avoid Chain Vaping
This is the hardest thing to avoid for many vapers, but also the most obvious reason that your coil would burn out. The coils are designed to heat up enough to provide you with a good hit and then cool down.
If you’re incessantly heating up your coil taking hit after hit, your coils will burn out much quicker. It’s best to wait at least a few minutes before your sessions (or even better, between your hits) to give the coil time to cool down so it doesn’t get overused.
4. Relax the Wattage
Many people crank up the wattage to blow out huge clouds, but this also puts a lot more strain on the coil. Reduce the power settings as much as you can comfortably to minimize the strain that you put on your coil so that it can last longer.
5. Manage Your Temperature
Of course, the simplest way to avoid burning your coil is to avoid using extreme temperatures. Unfortunately, not all vapes come with temperature control devices. If yours does, try to minimize the amount of heat that you use to vape your juice. This will extend the life of your coil significantly.
