Box Mods UK
As we mentioned above, having a plethora of options to choose from is a double edged sword. It both works for and against you. Given the fact that there are hundreds of box mods on the UK market, this is clearly an issue. How can you possibly go through each box mod before deciding to buy? Even if you use certain criteria to narrow down your options, you are left with an endless amount of possibilities. While we have conducted the research in order to assist you, this was one of the most daunting undertakings we have come across. What makes a box mod a top rated product? This is a great question and one that has many answers to it. For starters, we strongly recommend looking into the company that oversees the manufacturing of the kit. A company that sticks to strict guidelines and compliance is important, not only for quality assurance but for your safety as well. Once you have locked in on a few choices, you need to ask yourself what type of vaping experience you are looking for. Once you have that answered, only then should you look at the product itself. Ask questions like: what is the maximum voltage level of the box mod? How many mAh is the battery? Is it a variable voltage mod? What is the wattage output? All of these, amoung the many others, are features you need to consider when researching box mods.
Best Box Mod
We won’t beat around the bush. There is no such thing as the “best box mod.” Besides the fact that there are way too many factors to consider, every vaper is looking for a different vaping experience. You may assume that all vapers upgrading to box mods are looking for a cloud chasing experience. However, that assumption would be wrong. Otherwise, every vaper would order the most powerful box mod on the market. There wouldn’t be a variety of choices. Still, there are elements to look at in order to determine a high quality product within a certain segment of the box mod market. For example, not all 50W box mods are the same just like not all cig-a-likes and vape pens are the same. Therefore, we have laid out in-depth research below into what we consider integral aspects of a box mod.
Understanding Box Mods
Before we list what factors you need to consider when purchasing a vape mod, it is imperative to understand them first. It is here that we will expound upon the various power features within a box mod that you should understand. Cig-a-like or beginner electronic cigarette users often have a very difficult time understanding how a box mod works. Usability plays a fairly large role in the purchasing decision. However, while ease of use is important, it pales in comparison to understanding the electrical component of the device. There are four main aspects to look at in a box mod: battery capacity (measured in mAh), voltage levels, wattage output, and ohm resistance. The goal, in theory, is simple. Like a cig-a-like or vape pen, you want the best possible vaping experience. This largely means thick vapour clouds, little resistance when inhaling, a nice smooth throat hit, and of course a lot of flavour. But, because every vape mod comes with a different sized battery and the device allow you to play with the ‘power’ levels, vapers could end up with varying results. So let’s go through the four components that vapers often misunderstand.
Battery Capacity: in our opinion, this is the least important of the four. An e-cigarette battery capacity is measured in ‘mAh’ (milliampere-hour). Without complicating this too much, this essentially lets you know the volume and speed of electricity capable of flowing in a certain time frame. It measures how long your e-cig battery will be able to deliver the voltage charge – i.e. how long the battery lasts.
Voltage Level: when the electricity flows from the battery, depending on the amps, this creates ‘x’ amount of electrical pressure – otherwise known as voltage. For beginners, we strongly recommend to adjust wattage (which we explain below) and not voltage. Here’s why: when you set the voltage level on your box mod, it sends a set level of pressure (energy) through the circuit. But, it does not take into account resistance (resistance is measured in ‘ohms’ which we also explain below). Therefore, you will need to have a good understanding of ohms law in order to determine the right resistance level on a set voltage level. Most vapers simply don’t want to go through the hassle of understanding this. However, by simply playing with the wattage output, the box mod will automatically adjust the voltage required to overcome the resistance. If you are still adamant about changing the voltage level on your own but don’t want to get your degree in physics, you can always use the ohms law calculator on the right hand side of this page. This will assist you in determining how much voltage, wattage, current, and resistance to use.
Wattage Output: this is arguably the most important one of the four. When you hear vapers talking about box mods, you oftentimes hear them say, “I am looking for power.” This is exactly what watts are – how much power is provided / released. The higher the wattage, the more heat is produced from the atomizer (or tank).
Ohm: electrical resistance is measured in ohms. The higher the ohm level, the more resistance is applied to the flow of (electrical) current, and vice versa. Gibberish? Allow us to explain. If you were lower your ohm level and increase the voltage level, this will give you more vapour volume and likely an increase in flavour as well. This is why we see many vapers testing out ‘sub-ohm’ vaping – vaping below a 1.0 ohm (resistance) level. These are cloud chasers looking for maximum vapour volume and flavour.
Even with the all-inclusive explanation above, we realize this can still be overwhelming to 90% of vapers interested in vape mods. So, here is what we recommend. For beginners and even intermediate vapers, we encourage you to set your variable wattage box mod to 10W using 2.5 ohm resistance. This should give you a great vaping experience. Once you get the feel from this starting point, you can then test out different voltage/current/resistance/wattage levels to fit in line your vaping desires.
Our Vape Mod Evaluation Process
It is here where we give you the low down on the size of the vape mod, the look and feel of it, and where the different ports sit.
Performance is really a broad term. From resistance to coil and battery performance, this section is likely the most scrutinized part of our review process. In the end, vapers are looking for a tier-one vaping experience, especially in regard to vapour output.
You would like to know what you are receiving when you purchase a product right? We take a look at the entire kit, leaving nothing uncovered. Kit contents, specifications, customization (if applicable) – we go in depth and take a “no holds barred” approach with each vape mod we review.
Ease of Use
While it is true that some vapers are looking to tweak their vape mod on their own, most simply want a good functioning mod that doesn’t require a lot of work. How easy is it to refill your e-juice or replace the batteries? What about changing the settings? What type of screen does the box mod come with and how is the functionality? These are just a few of the aspects we break down in the review.
Let’s face it; as we stated above, the competition in the vape mods UK industry is massive. This is excellent for consumers because prices are generally competitive. However, some mods offer a better value proposition than others. This is something we dissect in each individual vape mod review.
