There are so many different Smok vape mods, that sometimes it’s hard to keep track. They actually have a number of Priv models, and the Smoke X-Priv 225W box mod is among the favourites. So we decided it was about time we conducted a more in-depth review at this vape mod that so many people have made their vape of choice. Is it worthy of the popularity? Let’s dive in and find out.

The first thing that stands out on this box mod is that luscious screen. It’s an HD screen that takes up the entire side of the vape mod, and is simply a magnet for attention. One might say that an HD screen is wasted on a device that doesn’t play video, but there’s something to that crispness that screams high quality. In a lot of ways, the X-Priv looks like a smart phone due to the screen. Much thicker, but similar concept. It is almost completely end to end as far as the screen, sans the bottom right corner where the +/- buttons live.
This Smok comes in Blue, Gold, and Silver, and all of them looks absolutely fantastic. They don’t feel like they’ll chip at all, and the included TFV12 Prince tank comes in a matching colour so no worries there. The X-Priv has a bar to one side that serves as the fire button, and keeps the rest of the body clear of any buttons (other than the aforementioned +/- buttons). The back has a nice honeycomb design, the same one that Smok used on their H-Priv. It is removable to access the battery slots, and is held together with four very strong batteries.
Not only does the X-Priv look good, it clearly was created using high quality materials. From the zinc alloy that forms the body, to the interior, Smok put a lot of effort into this box mod. The result is a vape that feels as good as it looks, and doesn’t easily damage. It isn’t one of those rugged vape mods out there, but it does very well for what it is, without sacrificing design elements.
This 225 watt model joins a series of Smok vape mods who are rated around that number. As with those, we weren’t ever quite able to get it 225 watts. It ramped up really quickly, but typically topped out below 200. This really isn’t an issue for most vapers, as coils that come with the kit and most others aren’t even rated to go that high. There was plenty of power throughout, which was more important to us.
So it did a great job powering the TFV12 Prince tank, but how what did we end up with? Well, simply, you end up with a great vape. There are two high quality coils that come in this kit, and both deliver huge vapour clouds as well as wonderful flavour. It works great at lower wattage, but the ideal for us was around 60-80. Beyond that you’ll get more vapour, but some of the flavour seems to fade. The airflow control also does a very nice job of controlling your intake and allows you to taper down the cloud chasing.
With the Smok X-Priv 225W you’ll get the array of features you would expect with a high quality product. Variable wattage is a given, and temperature control is done rather well here. It accepts Nickel, Titanium, and Stainless Steel, doing a very accurate job with all three. There’s also a puff strength mode, and there you can set it to hard, normal, or soft. Battery life is pretty good, but actually very good especially considering the fact that it has to power that large 2 inch HD screen.

Ease of Use:
Let’s start with that beautiful screen. On the one hand, it really helps you go through the menu with everything is so bright and accurate. It almost seems you intuitively find your way faster. Unfortunately, you’ll need that because it has some peculiar ways of getting you through the menu. It’s something you do get used to, but it can be rather foreign when jumping in. Suffice, to say, you’ll want to read the manual beforehand.
Other than that, it really is quite easy to use. The Prince tank does have a number of parts to take apart when you need to change coils, but most serious box mods are the same. Everything fits together well and it’s also easy to refill your e-liquid. Simply twist the drip tip to reveal the opening, and twist it the opposite way to get it back into place. There was no chance to create an opening for a spill due to the solid click you hear when it is back into place, so you know that it’s solid. All of these aspects made for a very quick refill process.
£64.99 is the best price we found among reliable stores. Smok always does a great job in price to value ratio and the same goes here. With a 225W box mod and a high quality tank with two equally high quality coils, this is a very good price.
Add the Smok X-Priv Vape Kit to the growing list of well done packages from the now veteran vapour products maker. The vape mod is beautiful, especially with that wonderous screen, and performs at a very high level. You get great flavour and even better clouds, so this is an ideal product for those that like lots of vapour. For those looking to recreate cigarettes, it might be harder as this is more of direct-to-lung product.
Beginners may have trouble with that aspect, and of course with the curious button combinations of the menu. But once you get the hang of it, you’ll really enjoy most everything about the X-Priv. This is a high quality at a very good price, and there’s no doubt its popularity will continue to soar.
