After the very popular Drag, which produced alternative versions such as the Gold Drag, VooPoo has decided to come back to a hit product with a refresh. We’re always weary when a box mod comes out with a version 2, but this time we were actually quite intrigued. We were back fans of the original 157W vape mod, but how would this 177W VooPoo Drag 2 do? Keep reading and you’ll find out.

Well, hello colour! After reviewing the VooPoo Gold Drag which was glitzy and unique in its own way, it’s certainly nice to get to a box mod that looks like this. You’ll have eight different art schemes to choose from for the VooPoo Drag 2, and all of them are really interesting and pull your eyes in. Kudos to VooPoo for letting some designer just go nuts. It turned out amazing. The other side panel, which reveals the battery slots, is rather plain – except for the large “DRAG” slapped across it. Nobody should need to ask you what kind of box mod this after seeing that panelling.
Now, this really doesn’t look much different than the original Drag box mod. It also feels a lot like that one, which is a great thing. The casing is formed from solid zinc alloy, which is one reason it feels so nice in your hands. The coloured side panel is created from resin, which itself gives you a nice feel when holding it. That colouring is also matched with that of the resin drip tip of the Uforce T2 tank that comes in this kit. That “DRAG” panel is held in place by very strong batteries, but once you pop it open you’ll see the two 18650 battery slots. There is an OLED screen placed along the thinner side, which also means it isn’t such a huge screen. It works, though. You’ll also find the +/- buttons, the usb port, and the fire button right there. Like the original, the VooPoo Drag 2 is a little on the bulky side. It’s a tad lighter than the first, but at 215g it’s still no lightweight.
Up until now there hasn’t been a lot of difference to note between the original, and this new version of the Drag box mod. Other than the newer one being a tad bit smaller and lighter, they’ve basically been twins. Although we always hope for an upgrade, we absolutely loved the GENE chip that was at the heart of the VooDoo Drag original. It wouldn’t be so bad if nothing changed here, but thankfully VooDoo did one better. They included the GENE chip of course, but this is the GENE Fit, which has some cool new modes we’ll discuss in the Features section below. It also allowed them to push out the maximum power to 177W.
The original GENE chip was known for producing some rather amazing results. It allowed users to load up their vape mod and experience lightening fast firing speed. It also helped the VooDoo Drag produce amazing clouds with remarkable flavor. Suffice to say, it became on of our favorites. The new GENE Fit picks up right where its predecessor left on and, in tandem with the Uforce T2, creates some impressive clouds of vapour and amazing flavor. This is one of the things we loved, because both had to meet the standards of the original, and did so with flying colors. With the included triple mesh coil especially, we saw huge amounts of vapour and once again we knew that performance wouldn’t be a problem with this VooPoo.
As to be expected, VooPoo included all the important modes you need. Along with variable wattage and bypass modes, you’ll get a very accurate temperature control mode. It candle handle nickel, stainless steel, and titanium without a problem. It is absolutely spot on and even those who don’t love TC, might make an exception for this one.
VooPoo also includes a new Fit mode, which fits the chip’s name. The concept here is that you can set one of three sub-modes in the Fit menu and the chip will do all of the calculating and optimizing for you. Looking to get the best flavour out of your vape? Choose option two in the menu. Want the best cloud production? That would be option 3. Lastly, or firstly rather, there is a battery savings “fit” mode. We saw this make a big difference as it simply read the atomizer, and adjusted to making it “fit” what we wanted. Brilliant!

Ease of Use:
Just like its predecessor, this box mod is rather easy to use. It starts with that lightning quick ramp up and stabilization. You can go through the different options without any trouble and choose how you’d like to vape that day. Don’t forget to choose the Fit! It’s a great little feature that we didn’t feel wore out its welcome at all. The battery life, on the other hand, seemed a little short in our view. Depending on our usage, we saw somewhere between half a day to three quarters of a day before we needed to recharge. It’s the lone downside we’ve encountered so far.
The UForce tank keeps it easy for you too, as you’re able to quickly and simply disassemble it to be cleaned. Screwing on this tank to the 510 threading of your VooDoo Drag2 kit was nice and smooth with no hang-ups. The UForce tank has a top-fill design that has become so popular. Just slide aside the drip tip to reveal the e-liquid top off slot, fill it, and you’re good to go. Easy as pie.
At £69.99, the Drag 2 is a little above average when it comes to price for box mods under 200 watts. In many ways, the Drag series has earned it. You’re getting a great quality product that will last, plus it comes with a great tank. If you can afford it, you definitely should consider this an investment.
If you’ve been reading along, you won’t be surprised at all when we tell you that we love this new VooPoo Drag 2 177W vape kit. It brought back all the things we liked about the original VooPoo Drag, and added an upgraded chip, more power, and some really great coils to go with that tank. Now, this is still a box mod that is a little bigger than others, especially in this day and age when all vape mods are trying to get smaller. It also has just “okay” battery life. But in terms of performance, this thing is amazing, as was its predecessor. If you’re looking for a great vape from a proven formula that works, don’t think twice and pick yourself up a VooPoo Drag 2.
